We wonder whether it was a conscious decision from the four guys who comprise Warrington band Viola Beach to save their debut track 'Swings & Waterslides' for the height of summer. It's got all the hallmarks of a bonafide festival anthem with a powerhouse singalong chorus, balmy guitar riffs, zippy basslines and choppy drums coming together in sunkissed harmony, the only small issue is that Britain's weather isn't exactly complying at the moment. Yes, one thing's for sure, their waterslides won't be running dry anytime soon. That small hitch aside Viola Beach have crafted a gem of an indie-pop song here, with the best melodies of Little Comets and Peace packaged up very neatly indeed over three-and-a-half minutes. Time to hit the beach, just maybe pack an umbrella. - DC
